As Indians: We think what the Indian Government does for us?

When we think of it, what comes up in our minds are the broken roads, potholes, lack of public services and many more. But think, how many of us really would consider using the public service that is provided by the Indian Government – like sending our children to public schools? We think they are void of teachers, infrastructure. How many of you think of going to a public hospital or government hospital to get treated? We think the hospitals are overcrowded and they are unhygienic and there is a clear shortage of doctors and nurses.

We’re not exactly content with what the Indian Government is doing in terms of public services.

What essentially is stopping the Indian Government in serving the public? The thought we get is, India is a poor country and the government doesn’t have enough resources to fulfill that or it’s the corruption that is stopping it. We have seen the central government giving out a big budget every year and we even have the state budget that is spent to tackle these problems. From this we can understand that the country has a lot of money that exists in the system. We understand that there are some leakages in the system and the money is going into the wrong hands, perhaps that is one of the big issues. But that is not the sole problem that comes up.

But why is the public service not giving dividend?

Fix to Indian government problem and politics

Specifically there are 3 gaps that exists:

  1. Knowledge
  2. Capital
  3. Execution

First it is the Knowledge deficit. The leader or the representative who is sitting in his office might not know what exactly the ground realities are. And essentially it’s very important to connect those key points to reduce the knowledge gap that exists. There is a gap in understanding the facilities that are provided by the government to support the public. There is a need to create awareness and share knowledge among citizens to make them understand the various schemes that are provided by the government.

The second point comes to mind is the capital. What we think is we are a poor country and we don’t have enough money. Where the money is going to be pulled out? There is a need for leaders to understand that these are the problems that the public is facing and prioritizing the works that need to be adhered first. By this the leaders can actually allocate the right budget to right works.

The next thing is actually having people on the ground. In India, the public servants are under staffed at an execution level of around one fifth when compared to the United States. Our decision makers are very few and the workload is very huge. Even though every district has been allocated with  significant amounts of resources yet there is so much work to do nothing can be completed. All the government does is to disperse money hoping that the work gets done.

Now we know that there is a huge gap that exists and a need to connect the right hand with the left hand. There is a need for a platform for the leaders to understand the needs and a platform for citizens to state their needs. A platform that helps leaders to allocate the resources to what category of development and shows the citizens the schemes that they have access to. This is how we want to connect the dots at MyLeaders. We understand that our bureaucracy is too lean and the government does not have enough support that needs to be created. What we need is YOU!, smart engaged citizens to be involved in the governance and nation building. We are building a smart technology that is connecting political leaders with the citizens of our country. We know that technology can reduce the monetary influence for a vote.

But what we need, “is your support”. So think how you can be part of this nation building process because we really need a good governance for a better future. Do you think how technology can change politics? Click here.
