Cabinet Ministers of India - 2019

The cabinet ministers are the major segment in Union Council of Ministers after Prime Minister. The union council of Ministers perform executive authority in government of India. There are four segments of Union Council of Ministers as mentioned below according to their ranking.

  1. Prime Minister.
  2. Deputy Prime Minister; acts as a Prime Minister in his Absence.
  3. Cabinet Ministers; they are the members of the cabinet and presides the ministry.
  4. Ministers of State; there are two types, independent charge and a regular. Independents need not report to cabinet ministers. Whereas the regular ministers of state must report to the cabinet ministers.

Prime minister is the leader for the entire cabinet and its ministers. Prime Minister along with the cabinet ministers is the supreme decision makers.

Modi’s full name is Narendra Damodardas Modi. He was born in Vadnagar, Gujarat on 17th September 1950. He served as chief Minister of Gujarat for 14 years from 2001 to 2014 and he is elected as Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) from Varanasi parliamentary constituency.

2. Rajnath Singh

Allocated portfolio: Minister of Defense.

Rajnath was born in Bhabhaura of Chandauli district, Uttar Pradesh. He served as president of BJP twice, 2005 to 2009 and 2013 to 2014; Chief minister of Uttar Pradesh and as a cabinet minister in Vajpayee government.

3. Amit Shah

Allocated portfolio: Minister of Home Affairs.

Amit Anilchandra Shah was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Currently he is a home minister at Indian government. He served as president of Bharatiya Janata party from 2014 till 2019 may. He was an active member of ABVP during this college days and his contribution to the organization was recognized and sent to BJP to serve nation in 1987.

4. Nirmala Sitharaman

Subrahmanyam was born in New Delhi on 9th January 1955. He is a member of Rajya Sabha and elected from Gujarat since July 2019. He served as foreign secretary in previous government from 2015 to 2018. He joined as an Indian foreign service and served as the Indian ambassador to china, United states and Czech Republic and later as a high commissioner to Singapore as well.

6. Nitin Jairam Gadkari

Allocated portfolio: Minister of Highways and Road Transport, Minister of Micro, Small and medium shipping enterprises.

Gadkari was born in Nagpur, Maharashtra on 27th May 1957. Earlier to this he served as a president of Bhartiya Janata party from 2010 to 2013. Currently he is a member of Lok Sabha house from Nagpur constituency and lawyer com industrialist by his occupation. 7. Smriti Zubin Irani

Allocated portfolio: Minister of Textiles; Minister of women and children development.

Smriti Irani was born in New Delhi on 23rd March 1976. She is a member of parliament in Lok Sabha representing Amethi constituency. Earlier she was a member of Rajya Sabha from Gujarat and managed multiple portfolio in previous government. She is a prominent leader within Bhartiya Janata party. Currently she is a youngest cabinet minister at the age of 43 years. She is well known for defecting opposition leader and president of Indian National congress which was previously ruled by INC for past 40 years.

8. Piyush Prakash Goyal

Allocated portfolio: Minister of commerce and Railways.

Piyush Goyal was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra on 13th June 1964. Currently he is elected as member of parliament for Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra state. Previously he served as a National treasurer of Bhartiya Janata party and also headed information communication campaign committee for BJP. 9. D.V Sadananda Gowda

Allocated portfolio: Minister of Fertilizer and Chemicals.

Devaragunda Venkappa Sadananda Gowda was born in Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka on 18th March 1953. He is currently a member of parliament in Lok Sabha representing Bangalore North constituency. In Earlier Indian government he had a portfolio of minister of law and justice, minister of Statistics and planning, even railway minister for a period of 1 year. Before to this he served as the Karnataka chief minister.

10. Arjun Munda

Allocated portfolio: Minister of tribal Affairs.

Arjun Munda was born in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand on 3rd May 1968. Currently he has been elected as member of Parliament in Lok Sabha from Jamshedpur constituency. Previously he served as a chief minister of Jharkhand and as a national general secretary for Bhartiya Janata party. He was recognized well for his strong credentials as a mass leader and his significant contributions towards strengthening the BJP party in Jharkhand state.

11. Harsimrat Kaur Badal

Allocated portfolio: Minister of Food processing Industries.

Haesimrat kaur Badal was born in New Delhi on 25th July 1966. She is a member of parliament in Lok Sabha from Bathinda. She entered politics in 2009 and her husband Sukhbir Singh Badal served as deputy chief minister of Panjab and as a president of Shiromani Akali Dal.

12. Ram Vilas Paswan

Allocated portfolio: Minister of Consumer Affairs, food and Public Distribution.

Ram Vilas Paswan was born in Khagaria Bihar on 5th July 1946. He is a member of parliament in Lok Sabha for the 8th time and president of Lok Janshakti Party. In 1969 he was elected as a member of legislative assembly from Bihar constituency. He entered Lok Sabha in 1977 from Hajipur constituency. He was also a general secretary of Lok Dal upon its formation in 1974.

13. Ravi Shankar Prasad

Ravi Shankar Prasad was born in Patna, Bihar in 30th August 1954. He is currently a member of parliament in Lok Sabha representing Patna Sahib. He is a lawyer by profession. During NDA government under the prime minister of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he was a minister of Mines and Coal, Minister of Broadcasting and Information, Minister of Justice and Law. 14. Dharmendra Pradhan

Dharmendra Pradhan was born in Talcher, Odisha. He is member of parliament in Rajya Sabha representing from Madhya Pradesh. Ramesh was born in Pinani, Uttarakhand on 15th July 1959. Presently he is a member of parliament at Lok Sabha representing Haridwar parliamentary constituency. 18. Harsh Vardhan

Harsh Vardhan was born in Delhi on 13th December 1954. Presently he is a member of parliament at Lok Sabha representing Chandni Chowk. 24. Giriraj Singh

Giriraj Singh was born in Barahiya, Bihar on 8th September 1952. He is a member of parliament at Lok Sabha representing Begusarai constituency. 25. Arvind Ganpat Sawant
